Ever since the Trump Administration came into power, the crypto world was looking keenly at which way will the US government sway when it comes to crypto regulations. The launch of President Trump and Melania Trump’s memecoins signalled a progressive view regarding the future of the industry.

David Sacks, the United States government’s first AI and Crypto ‘czar’ is working closely to reshape the regulatory climate regarding digital assets in the country. In recent years, the crypto industry has been caught in limbo. The inconsistencies in legal guidelines and their enforcement have been a pressing issue.

From Clearing the Regulatory Fog to Moving Towards a Path of Clarity

For crypto companies to accelerate the adoption of digital assets a friendly regulatory climate is required. The inconsistent actions of enforcement agencies and the lack of a clear set of guidelines have been posing a serious hurdle for the global crypto ecosystem.

With the appointment of Sacks, one thing that is becoming clearer is while he looks to clean up the regulatory fog, his move will help the US innovation ecosystem to push the envelope even further.

At the core of this push towards greater transparency are stablecoins. Today, these digital assets hold a combined value of US$ 226 billion. Designed to be hold steady despite serious market fluctuations, these assets are tied to traditional assets like physical currencies.

Countries like the UAE are already leveraging the advantages of stablecoins. With the adoption of pushing its central bank digital currency, the Digital Dirham as a digital assets’ leader in the MENA region is driving the regions digital transformation forward.

In the United States, the push for the GENIUS Act, an act regulating the stablecoins ecosystem, will ensure a robust reserve requirement that will push for better transparency.  This is something that Sacks is arguing as a key move towards helping investors maintain trust and their potential as a critical driver in the broader digital economy.

The Global Impact

For the United States, it is more than just about sheer value. It is about strengthening the US Dollar’s role in the global economic system. This ensures that it not only give the US economy the digital push but also create trillions in demand.  This push will ensure that it can slash long term interest rates while further adding more stability within the financial system.

But this is just the tip of the iceberg. The FIT21 Act is a foundational piece of legislation that will set a framework for all digital assets and redefine the way they are regulated. With this bill, the regulators will be able to differentiate between centralised assets and decentralised ones. This will allow the regulators like the SEC to oversee the centralised assets market while the CFTC will be responsible for the decentralised ones. Through this approach, the regulatory bodies will not only have the clarity but can divert its resources at the right type of digital assets.

A Global Ripple: What’s Next for Crypto Markets?

The United States might be taking the first step towards a regulated digital assets market, it is setting the tone for the global market to follow. Taking stock of the stride, the US is taking countries like the United Arab Emirates are balancing its innovative spirit with clear and enforceable regulation.

Through bodies like VARA, Dubai is setting the model for the wider Middle East region to navigate the potential hurdles of digital asset regulations. With the market maturing, the regulatory climate will continue to evolve. To deliberate about the future of crypto and digital asset regulation, HODL Summit will bring together top government officials and crypto innovators under one roof to lead the discussion on the future of the digital assets market.
